Overspill stepped onto the stage at Blackpool's only Rock n Roll Venue and from the first note struck took the crowd on thier own magical mystery tour!

At about half eight last night a quiet, out of season seaside resort in the North West of the United Kingdom was transformed into a rock n roll melting pot by the band Overspill. Not due to play until 10:30pm, Overspill were joined in the downstairs bar by a coach load of die-hard fans chanting and singing. The whole atmosphere was a kin to a Saturday afternoon at a football match, light hearted banter, exciting people and the beer was certainly a flow. When speaking to some of the people that had arrived to see thier favorite band you could just tell that any of them would follow this band until the ends of the earth, loyal to the core.

Just after 10:30pm Overspill took the stage, a little uncomfortable with some technical issues at souncheck, however, ready to rock.....and rock they did! Every song was an anthem and the audience sang along to every song they played, word for word. A lively bunch of people who showed nothing but pure passion for this band and in response Nick, Adam and Vince gave them a night to remember. The highlight of the show for me was the sing song to "My Peeling Skin", a personal favourite of mine Nick did battle with the crowd as his lyrics resonated into the audience and thier version resonated back to the band.

The only let down on this evening were the support acts, locally sourced, self indulgent and totally un entertaining, not just my opinion but that of the audience too who dissapeared outside to take advantage of the cool night air and a chance to talk to each other over a cigarette. It would be easy to just dismiss the other bands but in comparison to the performance of Overspill, it was lack luster, un rehearsed pretentious nonsense.

Thank goodness Overspill rocked it and saved the night.
